1934 $500 Federal Reserve Note

$500 Federal Reserve Note
1934

This 1934A $500 Federal Reserve note is one of the very few examples of large-denomination currency still in existence today. The rare and highly collectible bill features a portrait of President William McKinley on its front, while the denomination is prevalently featured on the reverse. Though it was formally discontinued in 1969, the note is still considered legal tender; however, its market value widely exceeds its face value. Today, the majority of these bills are in the hands of private collectors.

Printed at the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia, the rare bill is marked with serial number "JC0051566A" and has earned a 55 "About Uncirculated" quality grade from Paper Money Guaranty (PMG).
